Be Here Now

Tuesday Practice Leaders: Peggy, Alison and Steve S.

Be Here Now is an alternative format to the Tuesday night sittings. It begins with sitting then walking, reading, a sharing circle, and closes with a gratitude and healing/remembrance circle. For more information contact Nicole, 327-8408.

SOLSTICE  EVENT:  On the weekend of December 15-16 we have permission to visit the old private Hot Springs Hotel on Lolo pass, which is named Granite Hot Springs.  It is in a canyon just west of mile marker 8 on Hwy 12 (1/4 mi east of the public Lolo Hot Springs resort).  The plan is to start at 10 am Saturday (arrive by 9:45) with sitting and walking in the hotel lobby followed by pot-luck or brown bag lunch (bring something to share and there are kitchen facilities to heat food - there will be a black bean soup provided).  Following lunch is soaking in the outdoor hot pool and by 3 pm we hope to start the Bringing Back the Light sharing circle.

There are 3 cabins and 4 rooms with a total of 9 beds - but 2 of the beds are kings so if you can double up we can sleep more.  So, some of us can stay overnight if you let Peggy or Greg know in advance.   You must bring sleeping bags and pillows.  The caretaker is allowing us to come at no charge so we don't want to create any work for him. There are dishes there but we will need to do our own clean up.  The hotel is very old and has not been restored or repaired since the 60's so expect rustic!  There is hot water, heat, water and electricity so it is rustic but not primitive.

CHRISTMAS EVENT: On Tuesday, December 25, Open Way will host a "Christmas Service". The service will be a gentle way to introduce non-Buddhist family members to the tradition. From 7:00-7:45 (approximately) there will be a short guided meditation followed by a Dharma Talk on Jesus and Buddha as Brothers. There will be time for questions and tea and cookies for sharing and getting to know one another afterwards.
